Book Review – One Day in December, Josie Silver

718erh46rnlOkay, so I missed December by four days. Oops! However, if anything conjures the feeling of cosy December and the joyous Christmas spirit, it’s a heart-warming romance. And there is no other way to describe Josie Silver’s One Day is December other than just that.

Curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea and my book, I was transported into the world of Laurie and Jack, whose chance meeting one evening in December through the steamed up windows of a London bus kicks off a series of events of almosts and missed opportunities. It’s a sweet romance, and I was swept along by the narrative. However, what I did find strangely disappointing is that I never really gelled with any of the characters – despite the fact that Laurie and Jack are our hero and heroines, I didn’t actually like them very much. Controversial, I know! It was the story that I fell in love with – the final scene at the radio station. Be still my beating heart.

If you want a light-hearted and enjoyable romance, Josie Silver’s One Day in December is a total recommendation!
